Bad Neighbours – Review

neighbors03

The culture clash between the old and young provides popular fodder for comedies. In Bad Neighbours they play on each difference through a concoction of dildos, breasts and weed.

Efron, Byrne and Rogen all deliver with committed and funny turns but their enthusiasm and good intentions can only achieve so much.

The central problem is that the film roughly knows where it is headed but isn’t too bothered about what time it shows up. The lax direction and plot development means that the characters are thin, the laughs too infrequent and the end product is ultimately unmemorable. Shame.

Bad Neighbours will score highly in its key demographic but the lack of plot progression and weak character development result in short bursts of laughter but no long term memories.
